Welcome To Our Guesthouse

Artist-in-residence program · 14 Sep - 17 Oct · Productiehuis Theater Rotterdam

Are you a performing artist with a distinctive, unique practice - seeking time, space, and artistic exchange to deepen your work? Productiehuis Theater Rotterdam invites emerging makers to apply for our artist-in-residence program Welcome to our Guesthouse.

In September and October 2026, we will invite three artists (solo or duos) to develop an artistic research project over five weeks. This open call is to discover new artistic voices, perspectives, and practices for our 10th anniversary edition.

What is Welcome to our Guesthouse?

Welcome to our Guesthouse is a residency for a new generation of performing artists whose interdisciplinary work dares to question dominant narratives. You will have the space to research, experiment, and exchange with other artists, guided by the expertise and care of Productiehuis Theater Rotterdam.

The research outcome will be shared in a theatrical track, bringing together presentations by the three resident artists and installations by other artists.

  • With at least 2-3 professional experiences, but not yet established in the field

  • With a clear awareness of their artistic vision and their intended audience

  • Ready to further develop their signature, artistic process, and working methods

  • Curious, willing to take risks, and open to experiencing the unknown

  • Who enjoy collaboration and value collective feedback in a creative process

  • Fully available for the residency period from 14 September until 17 October

What do we offer?

  • A five-week residency from 14 September to 17 October 2026 at TR8 William Boothlaan (Theater Rotterdam), including one encounter week, three research weeks, and one presentation week

  • A (limited) production budget
